The EU and Swedish authorities support Slite CCS

The Swedish Energy Agency and Industrial Leap (Industriklivet)

Heidelberg Materials has been granted support from the Industrial Leap for accelerating Slite CCS. The Industrial Leap is part of the EU Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) and Next Generation EU. The Industrial Leap is a government initiative run by the Swedish Energy Agency.

The support from the Industrial Leap amounts to a total of just over SEK 301 million for the FEED phase (to be completed at the turn of the year 2025/2026), the pre-feasibility study (completed in 2022) and the feasibility study (completed in 2024).

The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth and JTF

The Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth supports Slite CCS within the Just Transition Fund (JTF). The support of approximately SEK 70 million is earmarked for the years 2024-2026 for project preparation efforts that enable the subsequent establishment of a CCS plant in Slite in 2030.

JTF is an EU fund that focuses on industries and counties with very high carbon dioxide emissions. The fund will contribute to reducing emissions and tackling the challenges that come with the transition.
